April 28, 2024- One might think that an indoor matinee concert on a beautiful Spring day, might have band and fans a little flat. Well brace yourself Bridget, as the Old Blind Dogs had something much more energetic in mind. After a tour wrought with venue changes, m.i.a. promoter, immigration hassles that kept a longtime member off the tour, an earlier morning 6 hour trek from southwestern Colorado to Denver, the Dogs hit the stage at the Oriental Theater (The “O_) with a vengeance! Primed by laughs from comedian Dr Kevin Fitzgerald, the fans were in a great mood. The Dogs put on a brilliant show- rock’in feeding off the enthusiastic fans who were often on their feet – with some dancing away on a makeshift dance floor behind the sound board. The staff and tech crew at the “O” were awesome too. All in all a beautiful day in the Tennyson Street Arts district!..

Since forming in the early 1990’s, Old Blind Dogs have stood on the cutting edge of Scotland’s roots revival. The band has developed its own trademark style with an energetic mix of songs and tunes. Dynamic percussion, polished vocals, soaring fiddle and stirring pipes fuel the delicately-phrased melodies and traditional songs. Like many of the early flag bearing Scottish folk bands, the Old Blind Dogs line up has faced inevitable changes over the years but the core values at the band’s musical heart continue to beat strong. The current band line up has been settled for several years now and consists of Scotland’s finest traditional musicians at the top of their game. Original member Jonny Hardie (fiddle/vocals) is joined by Aaron Jones (cittern/guitar/vocals), Donald Hay (percussion/vocals) and pipers Elias Alexander and Mike Katz, collectively comprise of one of the hottest live tickets on the traditional Scottish music scene today.

As recent inductees to the BBC ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Trad Music Hall of Fame’, the ‘Dugs’ (in Scotland – “The Dogs” in U.S.) have released 14 albums and have won numerous other awards including the prestigious title of Folk Band of the Year and Scots Trad Music Awards. Their album ‘Four On The Floor’ picked up the IAP ‘Best Celtic CD’ Award and their CD, ‘Wherever Yet May Be’ was nominated for the same award. The Dogs latest album, ‘Knucklehead Circus’ could be their best. ALAN DOYLE just released his new Album “Welcome Home” and will be in concert May 7th, 8pm, 2024, at the PACE CENTER, 20000 Pikes Peak Avenue, Parker CO. ALAN DOYLE will be accompanied by his Beautiful Beautiful Band and Special guest Adam Baldwin.

Alan Doyle— actor, producer, best-selling author, and best-known as lead singer for Newfoundland’s
beloved Great Big Sea these past 20+ years— hardly needs an introduction. With five solo albums under
his belt, Doyle has been touring the world with his ace six-piece band for the last decade.
In late 2014,Doyle released his best-selling memoir Where I Belong, followed by A Newfoundlander In Canada released in October 2017, and All Together now released in November 2020. Amidst these projects, Doyle found time to write music for and appear on CBC’s Republic of Doyle, guest on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries, a role in 2014’s Winter’s Tale and 2010’s Robin Hood. With his 2022 live album “Here, Tonight” and a recent JUNO nomination for his 2021 album “Back to the Harbour”.

Doyle chalks up a lot of where he is right now to luck. “I’m the luckiest guy I’ve ever even heard of,” he says. “This was all I ever wanted, a life in the music business, singing concerts.” Doyle hails from Petty Harbour, NL, and formed Great Big Sea in 1993 with Sean McCann, Bob Hallet, and Darrell Power, in which they fused traditional Newfoundland music with their own pop sensibilities. Their nine albums, double-disc hits retrospective, and two DVD releases have all been declared Gold or Platinum and have sold a combined 1.2 million copies in Canada.

Reverie Road is coming to Denver March 17 7PM

Described as “astonishingly good” by the Irish Echo, Reverie Road is band that reimagines Irish and Celtic music in a lively and emotive way.

Sean McNicholas is the Chief Executive Officer of SSA Group, a more than 50-year-young Colorado company, built by family, for families. In this role, he leads the company, furthering the mission of more than 85 zoos, museums, aquariums, and other cultural attractions across the country, with best-in-class and first-in-the-industry services: retail, admissions, dining, and more. Sean is especially proud of SSA Group’s Colorado partnerships with the Denver Zoo, National Western Stock Show, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Royal Gorge Bridge, and the US Olympic & Paralympic Museum. Outside of SSA, Sean is a supporter of Regis Jesuit High School, Boys Hope Girls Hope, and is on the Board of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation.

Sean’s passion for his Irish roots was passed down from his parents, Kevin, and Mary McNicholas. He was raised in a household where St Patrick’s Day was the primary holiday celebration of the year, followed by Christmas. Sean is a proud Irish Catholic and graduate of Regis Jesuit High School.

At home, the Irish spirit is alive, when you enter the McNicholas’ foyer you are greeted with Irish welcomes. Sean and his wife Audra are dedicated parents, you can find them horseback riding with their three young children, cheering on their two daughters at the Celtic Steps Dance School, and feeding the family’s horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and pig.

As a Denver Native, Sean understands, first-hand, the incredible opportunity an event like the St. Patrick’s Day Parade presents to local businesses, organizations, and the community. The parade has been a main event for Sean and his siblings growing up, and now for his children- it is anticipated all year long.
