The fourth annual concert of the Scottish Fiddle Club of Colorado is on the 11th at 2 PM at The Kirk (Church) of Bonnie Brae, 1201 South Steele Street in Denver. Free admission and parking.
Colcannon is at the Jefferson Unitarian Church in Golden on the 4th at 7:30 PM as part of the West Side Live! series. Tickets can be ordered at http://westsidelivepresents.org/tickets.html
Then on the 18th, they are in Armstrong Hall of Colorado College for a free concert at 7 PM.
Pandora Celtica plays for the Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival on the 10th – 12th in Las Vegas, NV, and then at the Denver Witches Ball on the 25th at 6:30 PM in the Highlands Masonic Temple in North Denver.
The Indulgers play for their fans in The Exchange Tavern in Westminster on the 11th at 8:30 PM, return to Omaha to play in the Dubliner Irish Pub at 9:30 PM on the 17th and 18th at 9:30 PM and then close out the month in Conor O’Neill’s in Boulder on the 24th at 10 PM.
Brian Clancy does his regular gig at Jack Quinn, downtown Colorado Springs, 7:30 PM on the 2nd, 8th, 16th, 23rd and 30th and at The Irish Snug, Capitol Hill in Denver, 8:30 PM on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. In response to my request for more news, he adds: “More news? My god, they’re already booking St. Patrick’s Day 2015!!!”
Potcheen has its usual peripatetic schedule beginning on the 3rd with the Carbondale Celtic Fest, Carbondale from 5-9 PM in the Town Plaza, continuing with Farmstival, on the 11th at Wellington Farms, Fort Collins 3-6 PM followed by a road trip to the Irish Brothers pubs in Indiana – the 16th in Indianapolis, 17th in Lafayette, and 18th in West Lafayette, all at 9 PM.
They return home to play at the Denver Witches Ball in the Masonic Temple in North Denver on the 25th at 7 PM and at Cactus Jack’s Saloon in Evergreen at 8 PM on the 31st.
Mountain Road Ceili Band is in the downstairs lounge at The Margarita at Pine Creek in Colorado Springs on the 17th for happy hour. Frank Barber reports that “Lately, have had some Irish lads join in on vocals and accordion. Great sound!”
Star Edwards and KingBeat play at the Dream Conference Ball on the 18th from 7:30-11 PM in the Springhill Suites in Longmont.
Gobs O’Phun plays at The Exchange Tavern in Westminster on the 25th from 8 PM-12 AM.
Take Down the Door is at Oskar Blues in Lyons on the 18th form 8:30-11:30 PM, $5 cover charge.
You can catch Avourneen each Friday night at Katie Mullen’s, downtown Denver and at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret on the other end of the 16th Street Mall on the 19th at 7 PM for their CD release party.
Big Paddy opens the month at The Exchange Tavern in Westminster at 8:30 PM on the 3rd, goes to the Bohemian Biergarten in Boulder at 9 PM on the 17th, plays the Wonderland Brewery in Westminster on the 24th at 7 PM then does Samhain/Halloween on the 31st at the Westminster Brewery Halloween Party with a Costume contest with the FRIGHTMARE Scare factory across the street at 108th and Old Wadsworth offering great prizes and giveaways.
The newest member of Juice O’the Barley is Scott Sherman, on mandolin, guitar, and vocals, replacing Robert Maclean. The Juice will be at The Sheabeen Pub in Aurora on the 17th.
The 2014 Intermountain Branch Piping and Drumming Workshop is on the 18th and 19th at Vanderhoof Elementary, 5875 Routt Court in Arvada. Cost is $60 for piping and snare, $40 for tenor (Saturday) and $20 for bass (Sunday). Instructors are Jack Lee, Andrew Elliott and Glenn Kvidahl.
