Plenty to do this year at the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival in Estes Park this year.
Tattoo Estes 2019 starts things of September 5 at 7:30pm (7pm doors).
The Tattoo will feature all New USO Tour, 4th ID Band, Fort Riley Army Band, Northern Colorado
Caledonia Pipe Band, Centennial Pipe Band. Pageantry and patriotism, spirit and spectacle, talent and teamwork combine in this awesome display of music and might. Over 300 performers fill the Estes Park’s Fairgrounds Arena in a truly spectacular performance. Tattoo Estes, expresses your thanks to the military of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and our long alliance with Great Britain, Canada, and the Commonwealth, and thrills audiences year after year with an awe-inspiring program.
The term “tattoo” derives from the cries of the 17th and 18th century Dutch innkeepers, who, as the fifes and drums of the local regiment signaled a return to quarters would cry, “Doe den tap toe!” -“Turn off the taps!” The sound of the “taps” caused the innkeeper’s customers to de-part and return to their barracks. Tattoo Estes will also be offered on Sept 6 & 7, also at 7:30pm.
Incredible Entertainment over 3 fun-filled days will be offered at the Festival Field open Friday – Sunday (Sept6-8) from 9am-5pm. Offerings include Scottish athletics, Highland Dance, Strongman Competition, Solo and Pipe Band Competitions, Celtic Rock and Folk Music are a portion of the festival features thrilling demonstrations of light armor jousting. Also a note is the caber-throwing competition as a part of the Scottish Athletic competition. Canine lovers will love the Dogs of the British Isles exhibit (All other dogs not allowed on field). If your 21 and older you might be interested in the Scotch Seminar Beginner Enthusiast (September 6-8,), but do it after you do the Ninja Warrior course on the field!
New to the festival this year is the Irish sport of Hurling. There will be a demonstration between the Denver Gaels and the Colorado Regulators Friday 3pm, Sat 10:30am, and Sun 1PM. Crowd pleasing Jousting and horse “dirt boarding” can be seen in the arena next to the festival grounds.
There will be awesome entertainment on the festival grounds and at the evening concerts at the Events Complex. Some of the featured entertainers at the festival will be: Albannach, SYR, Tempest, The Gothard Sisters, Sligo Rags, The Brigadoons, Seamus Kenney, Chambless & Muse, Gobs O’Phun, Singing Pilgrims, MacGilliossa Band.
All Evening Concerts are at the Events Complex 1209 Manford Ave. Starting at 7:00 p.m (Doors at 6:45PM). Friday Night Estes Celtic Folk Concert featuring Sligo Rags, Seamus Kennedy, The Gothard Sisters, and The Brigadoons. The Estes Ceilidh Rock Concert is Saturday, September 7, featuring, Albannach, Tempest, SYR, Brother Angus.
After breakfast Saturday morning watch the festival parade at 9:3-am in downtown Estes Park.
