Switchback, the award-winning duo of Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack, kicks off the national release tour of the new album of all original tunes, “Birds of Prey” with a party on the 9th at the Soiled Dove Underground in Denver at 8 PM (doors at 7 PM). Switchback tours internationally with over 200 shows a year and draws on traditional Celtic music and original Americana songs that reflect their Irish heritage and Midwestern roots. The Lilt Collective graces the HIghland Stage at the Colorado Scottish Festival in Edgewater at 2:30 PM on the 4th. The Bennett School of Irish Dance performs on the Highland Stage at the Colorado Scottish Festival at 9 AM and 2 PM on the 4th. An always fun “battle of the (pipe) bands” pits the Queen City Pipe Band against the Michael Collins Pipes and Drums on the outside stage at Clancy’s from 6-6:30 PM on the 24th. Dirk Mewes and friends present sets of uilleann pipe tunes at the Colorado Scottish Festival on the 3rd at 11 AM and 1 PM.
Angus Mohr headlines the 56th Annual Colorado Scottish Festival in Edgewater on the 3rd from 7-9 PM and does the same for Clancy’s Third Annual Celtic festival on the outside stage at Clancy’s Irish Pub in Wheat Ridge on the 24th from 6-8 PM.
Big Paddy continues celebrating their 20th anniversary of performing along the Front Range by bringing their Irish rock to the outside stage at Clancy’s on the 24th at 3:15 PM. Juice O’the Barley plays on the indoor stage at Clancy’s on the 24th from 2:30-4 PM. The Gang of Devils perform on the outside stage at Clancy’s from 5-6 PM on the 24th. Irish step dancing is part of the festivities at Clancy’s on the 24th with the Celtic Steps from 2:45 – 3:15 and dancers from the Wick School of Irish Dance at 6:30 PM on the outside stage. Mulligan Stew kicks off the indoor tunes for Clancy’s Celtic Festival at 11AM on the 24th and is followed by Chris Murtaugh at 12:30 PM and Rosin The Bow at 4 PM.
Making their Colorado debut is Murphy and the Giant, a fun group from Utah in Clancy’s front room at 8:30 PM on the 24th.
the commoners trek down from Ft. Collins to play on the outside stage at Clancyfest on the 24th at 1 PM.
Brian Clancy takes the stage at the Jack Quinn Irish Alehouse and Pub in Downtown Colorado Springs on the 22nd at 7:30 PM.
Avourneen has a busy month beginning with an 11:15 AM gig on the 4th at the Colorado Scottish Festival, continues on the 9th at 8 PM with their rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Blood on the Tracks” album at the Clocktower Cabaret, 16th and Arapahoe, tickets start at $25. On the 15th, they play a House Concert at 7:30 PM with the Parson Sisters from Albuquerque, New Mexico. RSVP to [email protected] for address and admission info. They take to the road for gigs at 9 PM on the 16th and 17th at the Dubliner Pub in Omaha, NE, return for a show on the outside stage at Clancy’s Celtic Fest at 11 AM on the 24th and Hands Across Contra at 7 PM that night at Christ Church in Denver then close out the month with a 9 PM gig at Ned Kelly’s Irish Pub in Littleton on the 31st.
If you missed The McDeviants at the Colorado Irish Festival, you can see/hear them at Clancy’s Celtic Festival on the 24th inside at 6:30 PM. Kevin McDeviant does a solo acoustic gig at Jack Quinn’s on the 15th from 7-11 PM and the whole band is at Jack Quinn’s on the 29th from 7:30-11 PM.
