Making his first Colorado appearance since 2012, acclaimed bouzouki player Roger Landes will perform three shows on November 4, 5, and 6 with traditional singer Beth Gadbaw. Celtic Heritage Magazine said: “Not only is Landes helping to legitimize the instrument — he is taking it to a whole other level.” Landes has accompanied Spanish Galician piper and Chieftains alum Carlos Nuñez, master fiddlers Tommy Peoples and Frankie Gavin, and tenor banjo great John Carty. Having appeared on NPR’s Mountain Stage, and on A Prairie Home Companion, his 2005 recording House to House was selected as one of the year’s Top Five Traditional albums by The Irish Times. Folksinger/percussionist Beth Gadbaw is a Fulbright award-winning performer and composer who was recently commissioned to set selected works by Wales’s first Poet Laureate for choral voices. Her singing in English and Irish Gaelic has been featured on Ireland’s national radio, RTÉ. Rounding out the trio is fiddler Sandra Wong, who is also one of the U.S.’s foremost nyckelharpa players. On this ancient Swedish bowed instrument and on fiddle, she has performed with a myriad of artists including Bobby McFerrin and members of French Canada’s Genticorum. The trio of Landes, Gadbaw & Wong will perform at The Old Gallery in Allenspark on November 4, Swallow Hill in Denver on November 5, and Nevei Kodesh in Boulder November 6 (matinee). For more information visit www.bethgadbaw.com
