[email protected] January 10, 2013

“Crisp and intuitive…a fresh take on traditional tunes.”
– The Minor 7th

“New Time Ensemble is an eclectic mix of musical styles and
personalities, with Irish traditional music at its heart. Fresh and innovative!”
– Sandra Joyce, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance

New Time Ensemble has announced their upcoming concert in Colorado and Wyoming. Following successful tours of Europe, New England, and most recently the western United States, New Time Ensemble is returning to Denver for one show in February. In March they will be featured on the High Street Concert Series in Lyons and they will also headline the Céilí at the Roundhouse Irish Festival alongside Lúnasa, Goitse, and the Battlefield Band.
New Time Ensemble is comprised of flute, cello, guitar, and voice. Formed in western Ireland while the members pursued advanced music degrees at the University of Limerick, the group was founded by folk cellist and Utah native Liz Davis Maxfield and Denver flutist Leslie Anne Harrison.
Maxfield, who grew up in Orem, Utah, attended Berklee College of Music before receiving a Fulbright to study Irish traditional music and cello at the University of Limerick. While in Ireland, Maxfield founded New Time Ensemble and also wrote The Irish Cello Book: Traditional Tunes and Techniques, which will be published by Hal Leonard this winter. She is a featured artist on ten albums and has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan.
Harrison, a local of Denver, has performed around the world with such artists as the Metro Chamber Orchestra, the Combo Nuevo Orchestra, members of the Silk Road Project, and New York City’s Public Theater. She is a featured artist on multiple albums and has made guest appearances on numerous recording projects, one of which was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in 2009. Most recently, she was selected as a showcase performer for the 2012 Southwest Regional Folk Alliance Conference. Harrison also performs with Folk Ragoût and is on the music faculty at Swallow Hill and Laramie County College.
